Brian Holder

General Manager, Sales & Marketing

Brian is a rare find. Understated yet confident, he thrives on rising to the big challenges and sets high standards – but nothing more than he expects of himself. Driven to make a difference, he’s renowned for being a hands-on leader of tight-knit, client-centric teams that turn seemingly impossible obstacles into win-win outcomes. Not unexpectedly, he also never takes “no” for an answer. To him, there’s always a different, better, or newer way to look at things – and he’s adamant that continuous improvement is a non-negotiable deliverable for both Tecala and our customers.

With a work-hard play-hard attitude, Brian fits Tecala like a glove. He revels in punching above his weight (as we do) and pulling a rabbit out of the hat, when it’s most needed. He prides himself on doing what he says he’s going to do and guides his team to come up with innovative ways to improve our client’s situations – not just solve them. And after so many years in IT, he’s fluent in maximising those recurring industry change-moments by challenging his team to deliver something even more remarkable to our clients. With many years in the IT industry, he’s a technically driven sales and marketing guy through-and-through, and a hard-core self-developer. Starting out as a Royal Navy radar technician provided the perfect path for him to make an early transition into the ICT industry as a mainframe engineer. In the ensuing years he’s criss-crossed the industry and held numerous senior sales, commercial and executive management roles, including 19 years at Microsoft. All those years have taught him the importance of four things: finding the right people; placing these people in the right roles; getting the right results; and getting these results with client-focussed solutions.

Before I came to Tecala, I was going onto my 6th year working in a very well-paying job as a security officer. One day I had an epiphany and decided to pursue a career in IT. I seized the first opportunity I could get, but it took one whole year and two companies later to finally discover a place that I love. I felt accepted from day one in Tecala and, even crazier, I realised that I had improved my skills in just one week at Tecala compared to the months I had worked in my previous company.
