Mohammed ‘Mo’ Nabeel
Service Engineer, Level 1
Before I came to Tecala, I was going onto my 6th year working in a very well-paying job as a security officer. One day I had an epiphany and decided to pursue a career in IT. I seized the first opportunity I could get, but it took one whole year and two companies later to finally discover a place that I love. I felt accepted from day one in Tecala and, even crazier, I realised that I had improved my skills in just one week at Tecala compared to the months I had worked in my previous company.
One of my most vivid childhood memories was being a 4-year-old who—in the process of trying to steal some candy from my dad’s Jacket—noticed that my dad had brought in a new package. It was a new computer. My attention was quickly drawn to him unpacking it and working on something. I just stood there watching him like a hawk. It was love at first sight.
My dad and I both shared a love for technology, particularly computers. At age 6, my neighbour asked for help fixing a movie that wasn’t playing. It was a simple solution; they were using the wrong player to watch a movie, so I just showed them how to run Media Player. I felt cool. A 6-year-old fixing a tech problem for an adult.
Finding solutions to my relative’s computer issues became a full-time hobby. When I invested time in building a computer myself at 24-years-old I finally said to myself, “I hate being a security officer and I love IT. Hmm”. Well, undoubtedly I desired a career change, so I took a leap of faith. That decision to change my career path was the best decision I ever made. It led me to this role at Tecala, an exciting start in my new career.
Tecala has two qualities that I admire most: an amazing culture and wonderful people. It’s a complete package. The Tecala family is the number one reason why I love coming to work every day. There are many young dads like myself at work, so we just boast about our baby’s latest exploits! But seriously, there’s something else that is magical at work which encourages me to wake up and head to the office every day: the legendary Tecala Snack Fridge. Highly Recommended!
