Hybrid cloud: a combination of public and private clouds, giving you the flexibility to move workloads between cloud services as needs and costs fluctuate.

Managed on-premise: Get the most power and raw capacity from your on-premise infrastructure. Your cloud, expertly managed by our team, at your place.

BUSINESS OUTCOMES

Optimal business performance, with complete cost control.

Tecala’s hybrid cloud services and multi-cloud strategy combine a private cloud with one or more public cloud services through a software layer that allows data and applications to be shared between them. This gives the flexibility to move workloads between cloud services as your needs and the costs of public clouds fluctuate, thereby delivering maximum performance and value from your cloud environment.

With no need to restrict applications or workloads to one type of cloud strategy, many mid-size organisations are adopting our hybrid cloud services and multi-cloud strategy because it delivers a fluid mix of cloud computing services with the best potential for freedom, flexibility, control, and value in the cloud.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is a multi-cloud strategy important?

  1. Because it allows your business to benefit from the on-demand immediacy and scalability of the public cloud, while still enjoying the certainty and control of the private cloud.
  2. So, for example, an organisation can keep their most security-focused workloads in the private cloud, while they run regular business data and apps in a more cost-effective public cloud environment.
  3. And when the service is managed by a team like Tecala, we can continuously ensure your public cloud is delivering cost optimisation, because we’ll automatically switch your service between the different providers.

Why is a hybrid cloud service important?

  1. In a word: agility. The primary benefit of a hybrid cloud service is that it allows you to adapt and change direction quickly, which is a core principle of a digital business. Your enterprise might want (or need) to combine public clouds, private clouds, and on-premises resources to gain the agility it needs for a competitive advantage. Having a hybrid model allows you to switch and scale, effortlessly.

What’s the difference between a hybrid cloud service and a multi-cloud strategy?

  1. A hybrid cloud service is a combination of public and private clouds – usually a private cloud with one or more public cloud services. Often a hybrid cloud is built on top of a software (virtualisation) layer such as the VMware cloud or vSphere.
  2. A multi-cloud strategy usually features different (i.e., ‘multiple’) cloud services from one or more public cloud providers, such as AWS for application workloads and Microsoft Azure for your enterprise database or SharePoint.
  3. Although it is similar to a hybrid cloud service, a multi-cloud strategy specifically indicates the use of more than one public cloud provider service and doesn’t necessarily have to include a private cloud component at all (although it can).

What’s the business benefit of hybrid and multi-cloud services?

  1. Taking a diverse approach brings the advantage of reduced risk. When all resources are placed on a single cloud, any disruption to that platform can have a significant impact on operations. By spreading workloads across multiple cloud platforms, the risk of widespread disruption can be minimised.
  2. Enterprises will typically adopt a multi-cloud strategy to ensure business continuity,  i.e. spreading their public cloud services across different public cloud providers so as not to ‘keep all their eggs in one basket’. But there are also cost benefits if your service is appropriately managed.
  3. Because Tecala’s managed public cloud and multi-cloud services deliver different public clouds through an ‘orchestrated’ managed service, and because we can switch our clients between the different environments, our clients benefit from the assurance, resilience, and cost benefits of multi-cloud by default.

Can a hybrid cloud also be a multi-cloud?

  1. Yes, it can. A hybrid cloud becomes a multi-cloud when there’s more than one public cloud service combined with private cloud resources. This is a typical scenario with Tecala’s hybrid cloud and multi-cloud service customers, who receive different services from our public cloud providers, along with a dedicated VDaaS solution from Tecala directly.

Is the public cloud secure?

  1. The public cloud is not ‘inherently’ secure, which is why choosing to adopt a cloud service model requires a partner that can deliver cyber security as part of their managed cloud service.
  2. Even with the alarming regularity of cyber-attacks, 62% of small and mid-size businesses still don’t have an adequate or active cybersecurity strategy in place. And many have no strategy at all.
  3. With security delivered as an integral part of your managed public cloud, you benefit from a combined approach, including site and cloud security, ensuring your business stays safe from malicious attacks.

What workloads can I move to the cloud?

  1. According to a 2020 report delivered by Gartner, 7 Workloads That Should Be Moved to Cloud Right Now, include enterprise applications and services that enable mobile and remote working and collaboration; video conferencing (whether that’s part of your Microsoft 365 service or an independent service, like Zoom); virtual desktops and remote workstation management; ‘scale-out applications’ (i.e. those that benefit from adding additional computing resources to satisfy increases in demand); cloud-based disaster recovery; and business continuity solutions.
